Breakfast Clubs of Canada is committed to the cause of feeding our children’s future because every child deserves an equal chance to shine in school and in life.
Andy & Tj had a chance to chat with Lisa Clowery, Director of Major Accounts for the Breakfast Clubs of Canada, to find out more about this very worthy cause AND how you can help:
Supporting points:
- 1-in-10 Canadian children are at risk of going to school on an empty stomach every day.
- Every breakfast counts towards our children’s and our country’s future.
- Every child deserves an equal chance to shine at school and a nutritious breakfast makes that possible.
- School breakfast programs help to level the playing field for disadvantaged children, giving them an equal chance to grow and flourish throughout life.
- When children go to school hungry or poorly nourished, their energy levels, memory, problem-solving skills, creativity, concentration and behaviour are all negatively impacted. As a result of being hungry at school, these children may not reach their full developmental potential.
The Breakfast Clubs of Canada and Walmart are proud to launch their annual campaign with its new name, Help Them Shine Campaign, aimed at raising awareness and funds to support school breakfast programs coast-to-coast.
- The Breakfast Clubs of Canada (BCC) is a national organization dedicated to providing services and funding to school breakfast programs
Come visit us on February 16th as we broadcast live from Walmart in Kelowna to kick off the campaign!

Guide-Scout Week recognizes the power children and youth possess to make a difference in their communities, their country and the world. For over 100 years the Guiding and Scouting movements have helped young people to recognize that power, develop leadership skills and make a difference. Guide-Scout Week 2012 runs from February 19 to 26. Members of Girl Guides of Canada and Scouts Canada hold special events and activities to promote and share the benefits of our Movements.
Join the celebration this Saturday, February 25th from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Peachland Community Centre. This is a great event to attend for anyone interested in joining the Guilding. Tickets are $3.50 at the door.

About Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada:
Since 1910, Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada (GGC) has been a trailblazing movement advocating for girls and women, while offering them opportunities to discover new interests and develop leadership skills. Throughout its history, Guiding has prepared girls to meet the challenges they face. Today’s girls can learn about global and cultural awareness, career exploration, science and technology and the arts. They work on environmental projects and explore important issues such as cyber-bullying, self-esteem and body image, and develop the skills needed to speak out and take action on issues that are important to them. Guiding enables girls to be confident, courageous and resourceful, and to make a difference in the world.

In the Okanagan their portfolio consists of 7,000 acres of fee simple land as well as two biodiversity ranches. Funds from last year's event helped The Nature Trust acquire the Twin Lakes property. Adjacent to The Nature Trust White Lake Biodiversity Ranch, this 2,000-acre property features grasslands and riparian habitats. It is home to many rare and endangered plants and animals, and is ranked as a top priority for conservation.
