To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first music played at the legendary club the Lighthouse,
the Lighthouse All-Stars were reunited for a special concert. Some of the personnel was a little different than in the old days.
Howard Rumsey no longer played bass, and both trombonist
Frank Rosolino and drummer
Shelly Manne were no longer around, but the group was still filled with plenty of great talent: Tenorman
Bob Cooper, altoist
Bud Shank, trumpeter
Conte Candoli, valve trombonist
Bob Enevoldsen, pianist
Claude Williamson, bassist
Monty Budwig, and drummer
John Guerin. Together they perform eight songs from the period with spirit and creativity within the genre of cool jazz. As a result of this successful reunion,
Shorty Rogers would be heading the group for the next few years.
