The 1980s weren’t
Bob Dylan's strongest or most creative decade. In an era dominated by
Ronald Reagan and MTV,
Dylan seemed hesitant at best and downright lost at his worse during those years, although being
Dylan, even the most lackluster album in the 1980s had some standout songs -- this
Playlist set collects some of them, including the majestic “Blind Willie McTell” from
The Bootleg Series, the beautiful “Every Grain of Sand” from
Shot of Love, and the sprawling “Brownsville Girl” from
Knocked Out Loaded. Again, this wasn’t
Dylan's strongest creative period, but even muted
Dylan is worth listening to on most days.
